Mixed Media Class

Good Morning!
Our first mixed media class will be on Saturday, May 4th from noon to 3pm at Allyscraps in Plainfield.

I want to clarify what this class will accomplish: you will make an 8x10 inch completed canvas, using scrap book papers, paint, ink, stamps, book paper, and a black pen. NO TWO CANVASES WILL BE ALIKE!!! It is not possible to duplicate a canvas exactly. I wanted to say that, because I have taught card and layout classes before. And I know that some ladies get upset if their card or layout turns out different. Your canvas will be your individual creation.

What we will show you is how to layer a canvas. What goes first, suggestions as to what you could add to it later if you so desire. You will receive a template for a girl, and I will have a variety of sayings that can be added.

For this class, you must bring a heat gun or hair dryer, a black permanent ink pad, such as Staz-on or Archival Ink from Ranger, and a pair of scissors. We will not supply any of those 3 items if you don't have them.

What we will supply: the canvas, papers, paint, brush, Mod Podge, a variety of stamps to use, typed sayings, a Sharpie pen and tons of suggestions. All Allyscraps supplies must stay at the store to be used for future classes.

The cost of this class is $23. Please note it is 3 hours long, and will be fast paced. We will cover a lot of ground in the 3 hours. To reserve your spot prepayment is required. Please leave your phone number with us. I will call prior to class to remind you of what to bring.

This is a fun project! Hope to see you in class.

Spring is hopping!

Good Morning!

Lots going on at Allyscraps. Cathy will be sending an email out soon announcing the new spring classes. These will be for beginning Mixed Media canvases. We will do one canvas, from start to finish, in this class. You will learn how to use scrapbook papers, embellishments, Mod Podge, inks, stamps, and paint. Whew!

Towards the end of April, we will have a demo of Dylusion sprays. This will be on a Saturday, and I will demonstrate on one of Dyan's Dylusion Journals. Having a lot of fun with these. I warn you, this is highly addictive!

We have several ideas percolating for future classes. Stay tuned!  And just in case you heard we are closing, the answer is NO! Cathy is getting ready to close down the old website, where you could purchase product. She is replacing it with a new website.

As a reminder, we are open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am to 5pm.
Thanks for stopping by.

Classes coming!

Good Morning!!

Cathy has added more Dylusion stamps and stencils, and we now have Dylusion sprays. Have you tried these yet? They are amazing. The color is very intense and true to what you see in the bottle. These sprays do not contain glitter, like Tattered Angels or some of the Maya Road sprays. They are reactive to water, and there are a ton of cool things you can do because of that fact. We also have the Dylusion journal.

We have been busy making more canvases. The first one is only 6 inches by 6 inches, so I used a Dylusion stamp for the house. The hearts were punched out, and I cut a manila tag for the HOME stamp. See that little birdie on the roof? He is from a set of rub-ons by Kaiser Craft.

The second canvas is a 12x12 inch. I used a ton of pink, orange, and green papers and paints to represent the 1960's. This was made for a friend going through a rough spot. She loved it!

Watch your email and Facebook for coming announcements concerning classes and free demo Saturdays at Allyscraps. We will be doing demonstrations on the Dylusion sprays and stamps, in a Dylusion journal.

Thanks for stopping by.

New at Ally Scraps!

Good Morning.

Ally Scraps is loaded with new products just released! We have a great selection of stamps, including some from the Dyan Reaveley Dylusions collection. These are rubber mounted on cling, and are made by Ranger. They are interchangeable, and would make great mixed media canvases or greeting cards.

And speaking of mixed media, look what we've been up to:

These are done on canvas, with scrapbook papers, paints, stamps, rub-ons, you name it. The beauty of mixed media is there is no wrong or right way. Whatever you want to do. And we are having a ball.

Why not stop in the store and see our display? Ally Scraps now carries paints, Faber Castell gelatos, big brush pens, canvas, and a large selection of rub-ons and stamps. Cathy also got in the new Bo Bunny Misc. Me collection, for journaling. Everything you need to start your own journal. Not enough to tempt you? We also have a great assortment of 6x6 paper pads, perfect for cards and mini books.

Thanks! We hope to see you soon.

Layout Revisited

We thought it would be nice to revisit some of our more popular sketches from the blog. This is from December, 2010 by Debbie Gaydos. It was done with a Christmas layout in mind. Yeah, I know. Do we really want to think about Christmas now?  I'm going to use this sketch for an autumn page. How about you?
